STAFF BIOGRAPHIES


John Orcutt, Ph.D.
Marine Biologist/ Senior Vice President

John Orcutt has been in the financial services business for over twenty-five years having worked for several full service brokerage firms in their Vero Beach, Florida branch offices. Presently, John is a Branch Manager and Senior Vice President/Investments for a Midwest based national brokerage firm where he helps individuals, organizations and businesses create and implement strategies to meet their financial goals.

Before entering the financial services industry John had a background in aquatic biology/ marine ecology. John completed a BS at Eastern Michigan University, a MS in Biology at the University of Michigan, a PhD in zoology at the University of Georgia and spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. John’s doctoral dissertation was titled “Population Dynamics, Physiology and Adaptive Significance of Diel, Vertical Migration by Zooplankton in Lake Oglethorpe, Georgia.”

During his years in Vero Beach, John has served on a number of nonprofit and municipal advisory boards including the Pelican island Audubon Society, Civic Association, Environmental Learning Center, Indian River land Trust, Indian River County Environmental Control Hearing Board, IRC Finance Advisory Board, IRC School Board Audit Committee and the City of Vero Beach-Beach Advisory Board.

In his hobby mode, John has been tinkering with growing blueberries, raising a handful of egg laying hens, and participating in a master’s competitive swimming program.

John and his wife Judy have two daughters; Tyler who attends Vero Beach High School and Carrie, who attends Case Western Reserve University.
